Welcome to Colby Village Veterinary Hospital
The staff at Colby Village Veterinary Hospital would like to extend a welcome to our two new doctors: Dr. Kyra Larkin and Dr. Joy Prescesky. These doctors will be managing the practice while Dr. MacKinnon and Dr. MacIsaac are away on sabbatical. In addition to our regular support staff: Kim—our office manager (on maternity leave), Carroll Anne, Janice and Arlene, we have also added a new member to our front office team - Sherri. Please help us in welcoming Sherri to the team by saying “hi” when you drop by!
Dr. Kyra Larkin, a graduate from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1990 (BSc in Agriculture) and a graduate from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 1994, was born and raised in Lower Sackville. She lived in the Annapolis Valley for 10 years, where she met her husband, Tom. An avid horseback rider for the past 25 years, awarded the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation Senior Athlete of the Month in July 2000, and with a focus on one day eventing, she put riding on hold to raise a family. She and her husband are blessed with a son (William, 6 years old) and a daughter (Jessica, 4 years old). They now reside in Porter’s Lake, and in the future she looks forward to building a barn at home and keeping horses to continue on with her passion for riding. Dr. Larkin’s special interests include rehabilitation and natural energy medicine including acupuncture, chiropractic and magnetic therapy.
Dr. Joy Prescesky, a graduate from Acadia University in 1997 (BScH in Biology), a graduate from Queen’s University in 2000 (MSc in Bacteriology) and a graduate from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2003, was born in Montreal, Quebec and raised in Hampton, New Brunswick. She now resides in Dartmouth with her husband Jay and her three wonderful children: two boys (Zachary- 5 years old; Noah- 3 years old) and a girl (Rhiannon- 6 months). When she is not busy keeping up with her kids and their activities, she finds time for her love of sports, including hockey and running, and her love of music, including singing and playing the piano. Dr. Prescesky is actively involved with fundraising for her parent resource centre and has a special interest in surgery.
Our friendly staff are available to serve your needs Monday through Friday 7:30 am – 8:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm, and our doctors are now available for morning, afternoon and evening appointments for your convenience.
We thank you for your continued confidence in our hospital.
Our Mission: “At the Colby Village Veterinary Hospital, we promote the human-animal bond. We aim to provide the best possible health care and veterinary services to our patients in a manner that communicates to our clients our care and concern for their pets, and our respect for them and the decisions they make.” Our Beliefs: At the Colby Village Veterinary Hospital we believe in preventive health care. That means every year your pet should receive a comprehensive physical exam that includes vaccinations for common diseases of dogs and cats. Annual physicals are as important for your pet’s health as they are for you. These physicals allow us to keep up to date with changes in your pet’s health status and helps your pet’s veterinary team to control problems before they get out of hand. |
